My First Blog

Hey! Welcome to my blog.

I was sitting at home the other day, thinking about things to do during this trying time. After being lazy for almost a month since the Lockdown, I decided to take my thoughts and string them into a blog post that I could share with you. For someone who is used to be on the feet for at least 10-12 hours a day, its slightly challenging to sit at home. But I am not complaining, it has been a welcome rest and has given me the opportunity to finish some things I had started, like a pencil and charcoal sketch, a couple of songs on the guitar, some cooking for the family, a little catch up on reading and most of all a lot of TV and Lazying around. I tried to do a couple of videos for Youtube but due to some technical glitches, have not been able to upload. (Its on the agenda though, will definitely include the videos in the blog post in the future). So I thought if there was any other way to get my voice across and was lead to this medium. Hence, I am starting this to share with all of you, my experiences and whatever small bit of knowledge I have accumulated. I will be sharing recipes, hacks, travel experiences, among other things (maybe some reviews that I cannot hold back). I would also like to make this like an interactive thing and would love all of you to share in your ideas and knowledge. We can make this space into a sharing space rather than just me rambling on about stuff. So let’s start, shall we?

I am a Chef by Profession and Passion, running a restaurant in Indore, the Business Capital of Madhya Pradesh (India). I have this brand, Chef’s Alcove, since the last 10 years. I created this from scratch along with the help of my Family, who have stood with me through the thick and thin of things. And it would be unfair on my part not to acknowledge the inputs of my dear friends who have pushed me to challenge my abilities and instincts and pave the way to a better product. They have also time and again guided the ship and helped during rough seas and storms. All of us together make the Brand. We started as a very small, 8 cover place inside our house, in a room previously used as an Art Studio by my Mother. With a menu spanning 15 – 20 dishes, we had a humble start which has grown massively to the expansive Menu we are serving today. We are currently serving fare from 18 different cuisines, including Italian, Swiss, Thai, Malaysian, Egyptian, to name a few. Our endeavour is to keep introducing new food cultures to the city along with increasing our knowledge and expertise.

As of today, I have been a part of the Hospitality Industry for 17 years. During this time, I have Trained and Worked in some of the most prestigious properties in India. Be it Taj West End, Bengaluru or Taj Mahal Palace & Tower, Mumbai, I have been a small part of the Culinary force. From Personal Catering assignments to Humongous Parties and Weddings, from catering for Celebrities to Heads of State, I have seen and worked in my fair share of events. Over the course of time, I have had the opportunity and pleasure of working with and learning from some of the best Chefs, gathering knowledge and experience.

After Graduation and my time with the Taj, I came back and did a couple of stints in the city, working as a Lecturer & Instructor and Consulting for a couple of Hotels, before taking the leap into the vast sea of Entrepreneurship. It has been an exciting and eventful ride and we are taking it to the next level now, with shifting from our house to a bigger place.

I will stop my ramblings now, seeing that my first post has already exceeded my expectations as far as the length of it is concerned. The content though is for all of you to decide and comment on. Hopefully I have been able to capture a little bit of your attention. If so please reply and comment. Also I will be sharing some recipes for Exotic Dishes that you will be able to make with the limited ingredients available during this lockdown, in the upcoming posts. Hope it will make your lockdown a tad more exciting as far as food in concerned, making me happy to be able to infuse a smile in your lives.

Be safe. Stay Home. Start a Hobby.

Thank you and Take Care.
