Once there was a lion named Lance,
He loved & lived to Dance.
Whenever he heard a musical note,
His feet started tapping & mind began to float.
His hands spread out,
As he moved about.
And as the music rose,
His choreography made him pose.
He lost himself in the Dance,
He heard no one, no chance.
He was happy as he could be,
He shouted, “ABBA-DABBA-DEE!”
But a lion cub he was,
No Lion danced, was an unsaid clause.
So when he started to Dance,
All the other cubs began to laugh.
Ha Ha!! Hee Hee!! They went on,
His smile turned into a frown.
His hands dropped down,
& happiness began to drown.
He started to run home,
He wanted to hug his Mom.
He went to his mother all sad,
She heard him and felt bad.
“Let’s Dance together, my dear,
There’s no one here, don’t fear.”
She said this and went inside,
& came out with a musical slide.
He flashed his teeth in a smile,
& moved with great swagger & style.
And dancing he did start,
Jumping with joy in his heart.
He was happy as he could be,
He shouted, “ABBA-DABBA-DEE!”
One day circus came to the jungle,
Lance went to see with his uncle.
Everywhere there was music and dance,
He started to skip, hop & prance.
There were jugglers & knife throwers,
Monkey cannonballs & fire spitters.
Gorillas played large drums,
While large Hippos swayed their bums.
Crocodiles sang in a snaping quartet,
An Orangutan carried chipmunks in a basket.
Monkeys danced on cycles & balls,
Followed by Bears doing Waltz.
Then the Elephant trumpeted a tune,
& the Nightingale began to croon.
The Kangaroos hopped & jumped about,
An Elephant started bouncing balls on his snout.
Then two Flamingos took the stage,
They danced and floated with so much grace.
Peacocks took the stage at last,
A mesmerizing spell, they did cast.
They danced with open tail feathers,
So many sparkling colors came together.
Lance was happy as he could be,
He shouted, “ABBA-DABBA-DEE!”
“I want to be a Circus Tom”,
He came back home and told his Mom.
“But Lions don’t join Circus dear,
You are no Monkey, Elephant or Bear.”
“But this is what I love to do,
I can be a Monkey or a Kangaroo.
They jump & play & Dance,
I want to take this chance.
I want to swoon on the stage,
Dance & perform till old age.”
“But everyone out there will laugh,
Your life will be very tough.”
His mother made a point,
She knew it will disappoint.
But Lance had made up his mind,
He wanted to leave the past behind.
He leapt to his feet and said,
“I’ll be a Dancer, I’ve decided.”
His mother said, “OK, Lance,
Follow your dream & Dance.”
His eyes sparkled & he laughed aloud,
He hugged his mother, she said, “I’m Proud.”
He was happy as he could be,
He shouted, “ABBA-DABBA-DEE!”
